Comments: | Billy Osmun drove the Pete Chesson owned "Barker Bus" for a while back in the early 70's. From a trivia question we ran in March 2009, we learned that other drivers of "The Barker Bus" include Pete Chesson, Stan Ploski, Vinnie Brown, Gary Butler, Fritz Epright, Billy Pauch, Jeff Adams.. and more! |

04.05.09 | Brian C. Loutrel | The year is 1973. Osmun drove the car in addition to the Norcia 81. He drove the Chesson 76 in heat races but raced the 81 in features. Stan Ploski drove the Chesson 1976 late in the 1973 season after he left the Brenn 24. In fact, he won the Flemington modified championship in this car. I remember the race. He was way ahead of the field when the car stalled going into the first turn. He was so far ahead of the field that he had enough time to restart the car and stay in the lead! He also won the Flemington 200 in 1973 in this car. Bob Pickell bought the car from Chesson in the off-season and ran it as the 300 in 1974. Probably the best looking Pinto dirt modified there was. |
