Comments: Chris Bartley had quite a few good runs at Flemington.  He also had one heck of a fan base that sat in section 3 & 4 of the first turn that didn't miss a move made by the #55.

12/07/07 Chris Bartley I cant believe there's a Loews there now - it kills me every time I drive past and think about all the good times we had.
12/08/07 3-Wide I guess everything changes for a reason, and as it is in most cases, money often has everything to do with it.

You gotta wonder if the place would have been paved if it wasn't for the lure of Nascar $'s...  Then you gotta wonder if the place closed sooner than it had to in hopes that it would help put pressure on the locals to move through on the re-zoning to make it more attractive for purchase by those with big business $'s.  Let's face it, if it was a successful racetrack, or even if the former owners had bulldozed the whole deal and made planted grass and gave it a park like setting, I think that would have slowed down the re-zoning issue, or let's just say it would have been more difficult.

And now people in suits, with their eye on the bottom line have done all their studies and decided that the world just can't live without another Lowes.

All I have to say is shop at the Flemington Department store across the street as they were always and still are supporters of racing.

Hey Chris - On a lighter note, you had some serious fans sitting in the first turn back in the day... Felt like I was sitting in the "Bartley Section!"
