Comments: Ken always had great looking cars that went very fast!  (What more can you ask for?)   Had a chance to say hello to Ken at the NOTARC event at Flemington on July 26th, 2003.  I asked him about the early days and he did say that he first drove a yellow #64 that had been previously driven by Ebby Ridge, and then continued to drive the car with the black paint scheme for many years after.

07/27/03 Ken Johnson Good to see you yesterday. The car in the picture is our first Troyer car raced in 1984 and 1985 and owned by Eric Bauman and Bob DeJonge. Lots of memories. Thanks, Ken Johnson
07/27/03 3-Wide I remember Ken as always being a very clean, fast, consistent modified driver.  The 4 things that stick out in my mind are:

1. I don't ever remember him running sportsman,

2. Great looking cars,

3. I don't ever remember him really tearing up a racecar, and

  4. I don't remember him behind the wheel of anything other than a #64!

(I'm sure Ken can straighten us and let us know if any, or all is correct, but either way, Ken was always a favorite, especially at the square.)

08/04/03 Ron Never made it to Flemington but once, but isn't this the same car you timed 2nd fastest at 'cuse with, but also put her on her lid?
08/20/03 Scott Hanley I remember Ken Johnson putting that car on it's roof the last race of 85 and the 1st race of '86. Both mishaps occuring in the 3rd turn. The orange T shirts were also nice. ( I still have mine)    Scott Hanley
08/20/03 3-Wide You guys don't miss a trick.   In fact, Kevin Budden emailed me a picture showing the beautiful #64 with the greasy side up and the sunny side down - although on the #64 there really wasn't a greasy side!
01/02/04 Gary Lileck You always heard cheers from the grandstands for Ken Johnson. He was a very clean racer and that No. 64 was a good running car.
