11.25.10 | Mike Kent | This photo tells a lot about the sport in 1982. The move
from pintos to Cavalier-bodied cars was starting to happen. Look at the
other cars in this pic---JB's Gremlin, a couple of Pintos, Ling's Dodge, a
Cavalier, and a lonesome Coupe (probably Ted Alt) all on the same
track---every era of racing represented in one corner of the pits. Within a couple more seasons, the Cavalier body style would dominate the sport into the early 90's and the demise of the home-built chassis weekend warriors was at hand. And here we are today, racing highly-engineered cars measured in cubic-dollars that are only identifiable by the factory roof skin. Sigh.... |

12.25.10 | DWARFER21 | The Coupe belongs to John Witkowski and was driven by Kenny Woolley Jr. It was a Sportsman car that ran at Wall but ran with the Modifieds at New Egypt. |
03.05.11 | Todd C. Lewis | As far as asphalt modifieds in my opinion there was none
better than the "Rapid Roman" Richie won just about everywhere. Not a doubt in my mind were it not for that fateful day at Martinsville that he probably would have run another 15 years Todd C. Lewis Florence NJ |
