Comments: | Comment from Scott: This is a 32 Coupe bodied car which he built exclusively for The Run What Ya Brung shows at Brigeport in 1981 with a Bitner big block which he did well with qualifying on outside pole . Later that year it appeared at with Rich Polenz driving after my dad got hurt at Brigeport in June of 1981. |

The Ray Cranston coupe was a very unique ride and very quick with Rich Polenz at the wheel. If I remember correctly they brought the car out at Flemington and the officials did not like the truck lid being filled with slotted louvers…..some said it was a safety issue but I couldn’t figure out why. A solid panel or no panel configurations on coupes were in play at the time. Maybe it was just too different, it sure was cool. If you know why please comment. |
