Comments: You guys know where we stand on pictures of accidents, but Cliff sent this one along which shows that Joe was A-OK after this scary ride at Flemington up and over the fence probably between turn 1 and 2.  I got to meet Joe this past January at the SS Sprint Pre-Season meeting held at Palmco and told him to get us a picture of the TOY car on all 4's!  We look forward to Joe being involved this year (2004) with a SS Sprint Team at the New Egypt Speedway

03/10/04 Mark Burd I believe there were three cars that flipped and the TOY was one of them.   I remember the TOY car not only going up and over the fence but also hitting a pole on the way.
03/19/04 Dorene Pearson I was sitting right there. There was a brown 23 (i think) that bounced off the wall and rolled 1x. The toy car got together with another car avoiding the 23 and hopped his wheel. The toy car went end over end and over the wall after taking down a light pole and catch fence. A bunch of fans had to moved to another section and the area was closed until the next week. Pretty scarey wreck. Cool pic of Joe walking from the car though.
03/20/04 3-Wide When I first looked at this picture, I didn't realize that the light pole is laying across the roof - I thought that was just the thin pipe that ran along the walkway getting in the way of the camera.
12/23/04 Mike Rogie I was there this night. It happened during a sportsman consolation race.
Earl Pursell was in the brown #23, he took the lead in turn 4 and promptly went into turn 1 and stuffed it in the fence and rolled over. John Katzenstein was in his #265 he was the other car Luzi ran over. He rode the first turn wall and Luzi left the park and sheered the light pole, the only thing that kept him from ending up in the grandstands. The whole thing was captured on video.
12/23/04 3-Wide Which video Mike?
04/22/05 Mike Rogie Joe, the video is a Warren Wetzel production, the only thing I can tell you right now...sorry...the original box was lost and I have it in a plain case. I would have to watch it to get the exact title and year it was made.
07/05/05 Matt C. The title of the tapes are either Cavalcade of Flips or Wild World Of Flips. Both are great tapes w/ 90% of it shot from in between 1 and 2 on the inside.
12/30/06 David I TO THIS DAY HAVE PICTURES HANGING ON MY WALL OF THAT FLIP. THREE CARS FLIPPED THAT DAY AND I GOT 13 PICS OF IT IN SEQUENCE. RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME. I WAS IN THE INFIELD RIGHT WHERE IT HAPPENED. BETWEEN 1 AND 2. I WAS A PHOTOGRAPHER AT THAT TRACK FOR LOTS OF YEARS.
