| Comments: | Bob Barone shown above in one of his self owned #7B creations was a
fan favorite of many at the square. Bob never did get a feature win, but they all
new he was there and for an independent racer up against some of the biggest names in the
game, that's quite an accomplishment. Bob, with help from his dad and Uncle Ralph, maintained this car out of his shop in Ewing, NJ. For a while, he built bodies for quite a few of the teams in the early 80's through "Custom Race Car Bodies". Bob also put together an effort for Syracuse on at least one occassion and can now be found in his crew chief role for son A.J. in the Champ Kart class at Wall Stadium on Friday Nights. |

| 03/06/05 | Paul Garzillo | What a good looking machine by a very talented fabricator. You can see the
driver, the tires and exhaust manifold are not covered by sheet metal and the door panel
doesn't come all the way up to the front tire. Best of all, these car did not lean
and twist to the right! Boy do I miss a dirt Mod that stays level! Bob was always a good modified runner at the 'square' although I don't remember him winning. Paul Kuhl did have a non-feature winners race in the 80's......Did Bob win one of those?? Kudos for having a talented man like Ace Lane capture the beauty of this great era. Thanks Ace! |
| 04/1905 | Geoffrey Styner | I worked on Bobby's cars as a kid. My father built Bobby's motors and help build the cars. The Barone's always had a great looking car and put alot of time in the car. It's sad that he never won a feature, but he still ran his heart out. Now that I'm in Florida racing Dirt Sprint cars, I don't get to see the Barones anymore. Great Pic of car! |
| 04/19/05 | 3-Wide | Had the opportunity the other night to work with Bob on my kid's Champ Kart as Bob's son also races at Wall on Friday Nights. Now that you mention it, I don't know too many guys who ran as strong and as consistent as Bob who didn't get a feature win.... Sounds like the making of a good trivia question... |
