Comments: How many of us remember the "Run Whatcha Brung" Shows?  Seems like there were certain guys that took to the wings right away....

05/10/05 Scott Pacich See what I mean? There's just something not right about a modified with a
wing....
05/10/05 3-Wide For the most part Scott, I'd have to agree - The wings always looked like an afterthought instead of an integral part of the whole car.... with just one possible exception...   Ray Cranston's #65C! -   I guess it was because the #65C really wasn't just a modified with a wing...  it had a couple other tweaks here and there that made it look pretty darn cool! https://3widespicturevault.com/80spisc&vitals/a01.11.04_65C_CRA_BPT_0080_1.htm
05/10/05 Bruce Thomas.. Seems to me thats all a modified is today,One big wing! Hope there is a change on the horizon.Need to bring back some more flavor into the sport!
05/12/05 Wayne Urffer Bruce is absolutely right! This is why I have so little interest in contemporary racing. From the smallest circle tracks to the big boys of NASCAR, everything looks alike! Without seeing the manufacturer's logo on the cars, I can barely tell a Chevy from a Ford from a Chrysler. It's irritating!
05/13/05 Scott Pacich Ok, the Cranston car is decent. Putting that "roof" on it made it look like the old 60's bugs...
05/13/05 3-Wide Maybe that's what it is...  it just had more of a finished look to it rather than that of a car returning from the pits with one to go after the crew had to rip away sheet metal in an attempt to get a damaged racer back out into action...
01/01/06 Chuck Hassler The reason it looks so funky is Dave is using one of his URC wings. I am not sure if the sprint car was owned by Sachs at this time or not. Also not sure if the modified was owned by Dave and his brother Ike at this time Most run what you brung cars ran the unlimited wings at the time. Dave became a multi time URC champ, not bad for a guy coming out of thesportsman and modified ranks. Chuck Hassler
02/11/06 James Silvius The first year Dave ran a full time sprint was in the red #18n (Nance chassis) this car was owned by Charlie Sacks. After that year Dave and his cousin Earl Kelly bought the equipment from Charlie. Dave did own this modified, I remember helping my dad take the roof panel off this car, while he made the brackets for the top of the rear quarter panels, and the wing hardware.
