Comments: Could be a top 10 photo candidate of the Vault....  Rich Imlay captures the action here by getting about as close to the action as you'd want to without a driving suit, a helmet and 3000 lbs of racecar around you!

01/13/06 j. stinnett Doesn't get much better than this.  One of the best action photos i've seen.
01/13/06 Matt Flamisch The #28 is the yellow Chuck Jones modified, possibly driven by Ron Dunstan.  This car had many different drivers in this era.
01/16/06 Kipp Mowery Some of my fondest memories of Flemington was watching Pauch run the wheels off that L car. This is a great photo!! That L car was often ragged and beat up looking but boy did it fly around the best dirt track that ever was!!
01/19/06 Paul Garzillo Billy being Billy....

This one gets my top 10 vote. Very likely the most dominant car/driver ever seen at Flemington. Billy won 9 straight in the "L" the previous year[1981], and 13 total.

That year, Paul Kuhl put a 'bounty' on Billys head, offering a cash bonus if anyone could beat him.  I'm sure 1982 brought a ton more wins for this guy. Just look how sideways he is, and this is just past the crossover gate heading into turn three......Holy Smokes!   Thank you Rich Imlay for capturing the moment.
01/20/06 3-Wide You are right about the photo Paul... that's why I started begging like a little kid to have it from Rich so I could add it to the Vault when I saw it on display at the Dick Ivin's Movie Show a few week's back!
