Comments: Comment from Thom:  This is Charlie Jarzombek in victory lane at Wall Stadium, 1981, after his triumph in the Garden State Classic. No photographer info but I do own the original.

Remember seeing him pull into the pits that night, I was psyched. I loved watching Charlie J. run. I seem to recall that he had to get some used Goodyear tires from John Blewett Jr. to run, look at the crayon mark on the front tire, I guess in order to be competitive. I think his tire of choice on the Island was M-H. Not many invaders came to Wall and took home the top prize. This cat, however, was an exception to the rule.

11/25/07 PJ Wyer I was lucky enough to see Charlie run and win hundreds of time.  The best way to describe him is to say he was "The Billy Pauch" of asphalt racing.
11/25/07 Thom I agree PJ. He was an awesome driver. I used to love that head down, he was so tall, in the cockpit driving style. He drove like the car was a Matchbox toy.

I have to admit I preferred this, and his other, Vegas compared to the chromed cavalier he built, something about the built-to-race, not show, cars.

Do you remember that Chevette he ran some? Looked like the right rear was offset about three feet.
11/25/07 Jim L. Charlie J was an awsome shoe. Built his own cars and were always radical looking.
11/28/07 PJ Wyer Yes Thom I remember it well.

Actually I believe the right rear was pretty close to where it should be, It was how much the rest of the car moved left.

I'M not sure it the Chevett or not but the the first Radical Mod Charlie and his brother built could not be beat.

By the end of the season The Islip Speedway officials were making him start the feature way down the backstretch. Didn't matter same results.

They outlawed it for the next season. Again didn't matter new car same
results.
