Comments: | Here's a picture of a guy who probably logged more laps in a Hemi powered Modified than any other... Not sure what was under the hood of this good looking #2, but hopefully Wayne, or someone out there will be able to fill us in on the details. |

02/03/05 | JMGBills | Joe, is it possible this is Roger Laureno? I'm pretty sure Roger ran this car also with the particular paint scheme. Again, I'm not certain, but I figured I'd throw it out to you! |
02/03/05 | 3-Wide | Pretty sure this is Wayne... Hey Wayne... don't be shy.... is it you or Roger? |
02/14/05 | Wayne Weaver | The owner of the car was Frank and Barry Franz from Paulsboro.
Frank's son Mike continues to drive the family owned Modified today at Bridgeport
Speedway. I only drove for them for about 1 season. They are a true racing family. The car was an Olsen car. Barry and Frank were very good friends with the Olsen's and lived right around the corner from their shop and always used Olsen cars. The engine was a Big Block Chevy prepared by local engine builder George Fithian. My Brother Paul drove for them for several years with some success. The Franz's had several different drivers in the car over the years, Jim Baker, Roger Laureno, even Jimmy Horton drove the car once. This car was an Olsen car and did not have a Hemi in it. The engines were built by local engine man George Fithian. They were big block chevy's on injectors. Roger drove the car right after I left the ride. So we did both drive the car with this paint scheme. I am looking at the racing suit with the red stripe, I did have one like that but mostly used my black suit with a yellow stripe. This could be Roger in the car. And your right I might have logged the most laps in a hemi powered cars. Between
the Brennen #5 and Parker's #100 I did put a few laps in around US13, Georgetown and
Bridgeport and some at Hagerstown. Years ago when we were on injectors and alcohol
with big tires and tacky race tracks the HEMI's could have some advantages. |
04/22/05 | Todd Lewis | Could be Gary Gollub too |
05/22/06 | Joe Gorski | Joe, Wayne never did say if this was him or someone else driving. I'm
still pretty sure this is Roger Laureno. Please keep us posted. I still think it is Roger. If you look closely at the hood, it looks like it has Roger's name on it. This one is buggin me! |
