Comments: Comment from Matt:  Attached is an Ace Lane shot of a buddy of mine. I was thrilled for him when he was able to live the dream and compete at Flemington. Unfortunately, he was hit mid-season and backed it into the fence between 1 & 2. The car exploded and he was burned on his hands and legs. The car was totaled from the heat. After the fire, Flemington put in the rulebook that bladders were required in all fuel cells.

08/01/06 3-Wide I had a chance to talk to Jack a few years back at the Motorsports show in Ft. Washington while he was in the Micronite booth which sponsor's the #44 car driven by Frank Cozze that Jack crews on.

When you look at the amount of races that have been run at Flemington, and the amount of laps turned, you have to say that the chances of something like what happened to Jack are almost zero.  But it happened.

I was on standing on top of the A Car Trailer and saw the #71 as it burst into flames between  turns 1 & 2.  The girlfriend of our driver was standing next to me screaming as we could do nothing but watch and hope to see the driver climb out.

We waited.  We waited...

Jack told me a lot about the accident and about the difficulty that he had getting out of the burning car.  There is a lot to be learned from it.  Plastic fuel tank, battery placement, seat belts that would not release... It's information that everyone who climbs into any type of racecar should think about.  But it is his story to share.

As mentioned, Jack can now be found helping out the #44 team, and he's also been involved with Vintage cars.  I heard that he picked up a Brightbill/Kreitz frame and a creampuff Gremlin body...  Not sure what he's got planned, but its always great to see Jack in the pits at the Cozze #44 stall.
08/02/06 Walter Onora I remember that accident quite well. The heat from that fire was felt at the covered grandstand at Flemington. One of those incidents I will never forget.
08/05/06 Brian Rozycki This happened right in front of me as I was coming through the 1st turn. I saw Jack sliding backwards after making contact with a back marker, towards the wall in between 1 & 2. As I past him, I saw a flash and knew exactly what happened.

Within seconds the red was out and I was stopped before the back stretch cross over gate. I have the whole unfortunate event on video as my brother was filming me while racing. Once stopped my brother panned back to the crash and continued filming. From watching the event several times I notice how quick the Flemington officials were to get the red out, get the cars stopped and then the fire team to get to the accident scene. I think the whole video last about 15 scary seconds.
08/25/06 Bruce Thomas I know that jack has been looking to restore an old brightbill & krietz chassis he has, to as close to origanal as can be. Not to long ago we swaped some emails and some pics of B-K cars to get driffrent angle shots of what he's looking for on the cars, bumper styles , shock towers, bird cages, ect. Jack sent me some of the car that was to be restored, but im gonna let him unvail the peice when he is ready. Hey Jack , hope all is going well with you, and the restoration, hope to see it soon.
Thanks, Bruce Thomas~
