Comments: Comments provided by Fred:  This is a beautiful shot of a beautiful car.  The Norcia #81 Gremlin with Elvin Felty up.   One of my all time favorite cars.  The Black and Gold color scheme really set this car apart from the others.  A classic!

03/27/04 Jeff McClung Great picture, note the open face helmet!!!
03/27/04 Spilly Great picture, Fred!

"Electrifying Elvin" gave this car some good rides at The Beloved Square. I remember one night he lost the power steering about midway through the feature, and still muscled his way to a strong finish.   After the race we got to the Norcia's pit before Elvin cleared the scale, and he could barely turn the wheel to get back to the hauler!  He was completely shot!

Fingers Radiator was a long time sponsor of the #81, and Frank Finger Jr. and I were at Flemington the night Elvin flipped this car between 1 & 2. Pretty nasty ride.   You can't mistake Elvin in this ride, as he was one of the few modified guys still wearing open faced helmets at that time.  I remember how cool it was to see him in there with the goggles and bandanna.

By the way, at the time, this car was referred to as the "Sophie Norcia Special".  Sophie was the wife of co-owner John Norcia.  Thanks for the photos, Fred...keep 'em coming!

03/27/04 3-Wide Speaking of Finger's Radiator, I mentioned it on another picture but I worked there during my Freshmen, Sophmore and Junior years of High School (74, 75 & 76, as part of a co-op program.  My guidance counselor asked me where I wanted to work and instead of saying IBM or The Gap or the County Government Office, I said, "Finger's Radiator."  When they asked me why, I can't even remember what I told them, but I'm sure you guys can figure it out....  Their name was on the hood of the Norcia Coupe which at the time (70's) was driver by such greats as Billy O and Sammy Beavers!  Other notibles included Elvin, Paul Fitzcharles and a few other's that I'm hoping you guys can help out with...
03/29/04 Charles Roos Billy Pauch also drove the Norcia 81. I don't remember exactly what year it was but it must have been somewhere around the late 70's or early 80's. I remember buying a 3x5 picture of the car with Billy's name displayed prominently on the hood. That one was on my bulletin board at home for many years. If I can track it down i'll send it in. That picture was purchased at Flemington at the Ace Lane photo stand...I Think? Thanks for the great Website...many cool memories!
03/30/04 Fred Don't quote me on this, but I was told many years ago by a reliable source that it was the Norcia's that actually tagged Billy Pauch with "The Kid" moniker.

I have an 8X10 of Billy in the #81 at Nazareth from back then.  Great picture.  The Norcia team was one of the first teams that I rooted for when they had Billy Osmun on board.  Don't even get me started on the racing back then.

04/06/04 Todd Lewis I see Weber's TV on the hood and I think they were also on the Chemidlin
747's over the years too.  Roger Laureno also spent some time in the seat of #81
04/09/04 3-Wide I'm pretty sure that Roger Laureno's #81 was a former Norcia car that he campaigned very early in his career.
04/22/07 Phil B Weber TV was also on Pee Wee Griffins 72
04/22/07 3-Wide Norcia Truck Body is located at the end of Black Horse Lane on the east side of the railroad tracks and is accessable from Rt 130 just south of the intersection of Rt 130 and Davidson's Mill Rd.   Finger's Auto Radiator is located about 4 miles away on Rt 1, about 2 miles north of where Black Horse Lane (on the west side of the railroad tracks) intersects with Rt 1.  The location of Weber's TV is Deans, NJ which is about 1 - 2 miles south of Norcia's on Old George's Rd, right in the center of Deans.
Certainly a hometown effort!
