07/05/04 Darntricks Steve Behrent driving. I bought this car from Steve Behrent after his accident.
01/15/05 Bob Hummer Sr. This was in 1987 and I remember because guys were all over the car when he rolled it off the trailer at Middletown.  I ran steady there that year and was there.   Brett took the championship in the 320 class with the #R7 and He also used it to qualify for the Syracuse qualifier at Middletown in the modified class and won. (Brett's car was heavily damaged from a accident and wasn't repaired in time for the Syracuse qualifier.)

This was the first new style type body car that started the trend of what is still the body style.  Donnelly was trying so hard to get the D.I.R.T. guys to go with the late model type bodies and call them a Probe, Cutlass, Gran Prix or whatever you gave the most effort and talant to make it resemble.

He wanted to get away from the Gremlin resemblence type bodies for the purpose of trying to get sponsorship and contingent funds from dealers and manufactures and felt this would help get their involvement.

Well Steve Behrent was the first to do this and got a big pat on the back from D.I.R.T. and a lot of press. Soon the others followed, I believe Brett Hearn was next with his Probe body and by 1990 most all had this type boby.

Shortly within this time Steve had his bad crash and I don't believe he ever raced after that for medical purposes.  Steve and his Dad " Harry" always had nice equipment and were clean drivers which were well respected.

Correction !  Correct Me on 1988 . It was 1987
and Yes this was the first new style type body car that started the trend of
what is still the body style. D.I.R.T. will confirm this. Bob Hummer Sr.
