Comments: Sometime in the 80's Paul Kuhl started a division... I think he called it Super Sportsman or something like that???  (kinda like a Run What'cha Brung deal....)

07.04.11 Kevin Mc I think it was a once a month deal. I have pics I took from the turn 4 stands of these Outlaw Modifieds and the pics are dated August 1986

The technical term for these cars was "Modified-Sprints." They were small block modified with stricter run what ya brung type rules. I recall several small block drivers (unsuccessfully) running both divisions (Sportsman & Modified-Sprint) in the same night. They would swap the full-body work and wings several times a night. I also recall Pauch winning (almost) every one of these races.   This was also around the time he started making the transition to Sprint Cars. This was probably a good training ground for Pauch while he learned the proper use of those big wings.
