Comment from Dennis: ...Not sure of the year, but it is
definitely pre-1988 as I just watched a videotape of a race at Grandview in
1988 that had Ronnie Tobias and Barry Burkhart in the WAGO 1240's instead of
WHUM 1240. WHUM 1240 changed it's call letters to WAGO sometime in the
80's. I previously stated that I thought it was around 85 but I think 86 might be more likely because in 87 when I crewed for Mike Gilmore at Grandview we went to a similar body style to this and I'm pretty sure as low buck team we would have been a year behind this style. |

08.26.11 | Brandon Hanson | My Dad DA Hanson owned this car. The 1240 WHUM car was never
driven by Billy. He was supposed to run the car at Penn National. The year before he won the Lebanon Valley 100 at Penn National in this car with a white 134 body on it. You can see the trophy on the hood. WHUM wanted to run the car Saturday at Grandview since it was in their area and closer to their demographic. During the Fairground Reunion show they actually took Billy's name off the car and put Kenny Brightbill's on he was supposed to run Grandview. The deal never happened. Darryl Carmen drove the car one night at Flemington and flipped it in 3 & 4. He injured his back and was taken to the hospital. The car was junk and never raced again. Enjoy your site, Brandon Hanson |
