After years of winning on the asphalt, a disagreement with the
officials at Wall Stadium found the Norcia #81 becoming a new force on the
scene of dirt track modified racing. This was the start of something
big as the team would go on to become one of the most successful teams
on dirt throughout the 70's and 80's. Here's one of their earlier dirt cars at the big track in Nazareth in 1970 and with a little help from you guys, we've identified the driver as Lee Taylor. (According to Lee's son, it looks like Lee sitting on the front wheel of the car next to the #81 and now that he mentioned it, we agree!) |

The car that Lee Taylor is sitting on is the #63 of
"Iron" John Kumernitsky and I believe that John is the guy on the left of
the in the picture. |

I believe Jack is correct and that is the 63 next to Lee’s car and the 3rd member of the photograph is probably Charlie Shire. |

I believe this is the same hot rod that competed at Wall Stadium with Don Stives at the wheel. Car was a frequent winner running a 289 cu. In. Ford V-8 in the sportsman class. The sportsman would start in front of the modifieds but they (the mods) always had a tough time catching, and passing the Norcia 81. |
