Comments: One of my favorite cars, here's Bob Rossell's #56.  I think he named this car "Hilruth" or something like that.  I understand that Bob was injured in this car at one point of his career...  When we invited him to be part of the Legends Night at New Egypt Speedway a few year's back, I was looking for photos of Bob's car through the year to make a bunch of 4 X 6's of to give to fans.  I didn't use this car because I had known that Bob had been injured...

A year or so after that, I had a chance to talk to Bob's son Jimmie and told him the story about why I had reservations about using the photo of this particular car.  Jimmy said "this is the only car that Bob has a picture of in his house... because he made the most $ with this car!"

So much for me being worried about bringing up bad memories...

Always liked the rake of this car... the colors of this car... the # of this car (I was always a Jim Hurtubise fan so #56 was always a favorite) and the way these #'s were written were way cool for the early 70's...

08.27.12 3-Wide Had a chance to talk to Bob at the Hunterdon County Fair (8/2012) and found out that after he was injured, he was laying in the hospital and realized he had to make a decision...  Either this was how his career was going to end, or he was gonna give it another 5 years and make it work.  Fortunately for us, Bob returned to the driver's seat the following year and returned to his winning ways.

He also mentioned that during his career, he mainly drove his own cars.  He mentioned that he drove for Dick Barney and also for Harold Cope.  Said he was driving for Cope, and hadn't been in the car for very long and spun it out early in the night at Harmony and pretty much told him that he just didn't want to drive the car anymore so Harold put in Rags Carter.

I think Bob got more satisfaction out of building them, and then earning money with them so that he could come back the next night and race again.

That was also my favorite Rossell car, did Stan Ploski win a feature in that car?
