Comment: I'm not 100% sure if this is the picture
related to the following, but before the #292 coupe, Al ran the yellow #4
(former Lenny Martin coupe) one or maybe two times (1971?), which at that
point, might have been owned by Phil Meisner. I have been told that Al caught
the fence on the backstretch and ripped the rear right
out of the #4. As mentioned, I'm not sure if this is from that night
or not, but looking at the image above as the #4 gets loaded onto the trailer in the pits at
East Windsor Speedway, it does kind of fit the story.... Maybe Mark
Yaple or some of the other East Windsor folks out there could help us button
this up. Whether it was Al on the night the above picture was taken, he would begin the 1972 season with his own home built blue #292 with a white roof, and would make things very exciting for the next few years! |
