Comments: Not sure of the driver... not sure of the date.... not even sure of the track.  But what I am sure of is that this photo was taken well before the days of removable steering wheels...  Glad to see the driver was ok and smiling after what looks like was a wild ride.

03.29.09 Terry Ziegler The driver is Whitey Kerschner, and it was at Reading.
03.30.09 Larry Dascenzo Yes it is the first turn Reading, car number J130
03.30.09 Terry Ziegler Yes, it was the J130.
04.07.09 Frank Dinatally Driver was Russ Delp..car had an offset chain drive steering.. chain broke
04.07.09 Chuck Hassler Driver of this car was Whitey Kershner. The steering wheel came off when it was not tightened properly after a repair. We used to call this car the Easter egg because it was painted with pastel colors and looked out of place from the rest of the cars (white, blue, trimmed with pink.) If anyone has a colored pic of this car it would be a great shot for The Vault.  The car was owned by Bob Johnson and later changed the # to 657 And was painted orange. (Frank - the 657 was the car Russ Delp drove.)
06.28.10 Bill Katinowsky I believe if you check, Russ Delp did drive it a time or two, although that is Whitey Kershner in the crash photo. I believe Russ Delp ran it one day at Reading, leading or in second near the end or when a rock broke off a spark plug wire, knocking out a cylinder. I also believe Carl Van Horn drove it one time at Harmony.  Delp did run the J657 a few times, especially filling in when Johnson was burned in a crash.

Also, if I remember correctly, the J in the number was for Johnson and the 3 numbers were his house address numbers (130 and later 657).

Russ did run the J130 for a while and the spark plug story is true. The orange J657 was actually driven by Russ also, I did the body work and the orange paint work on that car., it was lettered by Hammerly Productions in Hamburg. That is the car that Bob was burned in at Reading during that flip. Bob is married to my cousin MaryEllen.
