Bob had an amazing career and was always a very, very popular driver
with the fans... He drove many cars and won a lot of races through the years.... and also had some spectacular crashes along the way.... By the time I really started going to the races in the late 60's and into the 70's, I remember Bob in the Cozze white #44, the McConnell orange #28, the Horton #43 Coupe and Gremlin, the Inzeo #80 sedan and his own red white and blue Gremlin and Pinto #300. With all the excitement and accomplishments from such a long racing career, perhaps the best way to sum it up is to say that, everybody is and always will be a Bobby Pickell fan. |

11.22.11 | George Gwynn, Jr. | One of my favorite Bob Pickell rides was his beige #300
sedan with a leopard skin vinyl roof. Vinyl roofs, on street cars, were all
the rage in the very late 60's and early 70's. There were only a couple of
modifieds that sported vinyl roofs but Bob's was probably the best. A vinyl roof on a dirt racecar was, probably, not too fun to keep clean after a race. George Gwynn, Jr. Frederick, MD |
