Comments: | Comment from Jim: Comment - Here is my dad (Leroy Silvius) cleaning the starter solenoid off the car at Bridgeport. Parked next to us is Earl Derr that's him standing in the background next to his truck. I remember when I was a little kid being at the Reading Fairgrounds parked next to Earl he would always call me "Captain" Heck of a nice guy. |

02.11.12 | 3-Wide | Thanks for providing the above photo. Many of us have
spent time in the pits, helping out on a crew.... and many of us would
go back to that time in place in a second if we could! I understand that your father (Leroy) spent many years working with the Dave Kelly throughout the years. We're also glad that when he didn't have a wrench in hand, he had a camera ready, and that he took some really great photos from the late 50's and early 60's at a teenager at Nazareth. (Check out page 17 and 18 of The 50's Section.) |
02.11.12 | Jim Silvius | I just wanted to say thanks Dad, for taking me along to the races and letting me hang out at the shop with you. Showing me how to do things, working on the cars with you, And the fun we had together. These are memories I will always cherish and remember till the end of my days. Your the best! Love, Jim S. |
