Excellent driver on dirt... Excellent driver on asphalt...
Excellent fabricator... I don't know if he ever had a nickname, but
Bob is the "total package". A very smart racer who knew to bring
his car home 3rd... if all he had on that given night was a 3rd place car.
He told me he'd rather earn the 3rd place money and be able to drive it on
the trailer at the end of the night rather than wadding it up trying to make
it a 2nd place car.... This way, Bob was able to race again the
following night and was one of the few guys who figured out a way to make a
few $'s along the way... I think he built every car with the intension
of selling them... If he didn't have it sold immediately, he'd race
it... earn some money with it, turn a few heads... and sure enough, he'd
sell that one too. It's because of the respect that I have for people like Bob who could design, fabricate and race... week after week... year after year... that I became a lifetime fan of short track racing. I'd bet that it's that same respect that you all have too that keeps you coming back to The Vault... I'd put Bob Rossell at the top of that list. |
