Comments: | Always a fan favorite, Bob Ayers drove the former Dean Applegate #9A, and renumbered it "69" as seen above and campaigned it in the sportsman division at East Windsor and Flemington. Later, the small block was replaced with a big block as Bob began running this same coupe in the modified divsion. Bob later drove his self owned Gremlin (same color and number) which was a former Matt McMann owned Gremlin racer. Bob would then go on to be the driver of the red Clickner #32A, the Hewlett #901, and we also remember Bob behind the wheel of a white #41 modified too. Do we have any Bobby Ayres fans out there? |

12.15.09 | Fred Menschner | I remember selling Bob one of my big block Chevy engines complete with injection that we used in the silver 21.This was in late 1973 or early 1974. |
01.27.11 | Brett Werth | The car was a former Dave Hulse owned car driven by Dean. Bob put a big block in this car then bought a Matt McMann Gremlin. I lived next door to Bobs sister where he kept the cars. |
