Matheny Kid's Christmas Party
- Saturday Dec 17th
Everybody loves Turkey Derby...
Ken Wooley Jr's Tour Mod
Mike Tidaback always runs strong in the TQ's at Wall
Part time Tour Runner Andy Walko ran strong all day long.
With only 10 laps of practice, Tommy Carberry hopped in the #28 and timed 4th
fastest.
Glad to see Veteran driver Bill Force A-OK after taking a hard impact into the
1st turn wall during TQ qualifying. Same could not be said for the #26F...
The pits are alive....
Jamie Tomaino is always a favorite
Billy Pauch was on hand... watching.. talking.. enjoying... but not racing.

Focused.
TQ's get ready to roll out for their feature
Great view of the TQ feature from up in turn 1.
Tour Mods line up prior to the start of their feature.
Doug Coby may have had the fastest Tour car in the field...
Rob Ormsbee's #19
Tour cars line up in front of the packed frontstretch stands....
(and there wasn't any seats in the pit stands either!)
Videographer Big Mike says he's ready to go...
Winner on Saturday, fan on Sunday. Kevin loves this place...

Doug Kolby jumps out to an early lead... which would actually become a 1/2 track
lead until the first round of pit stops started.
Let's see... a late race tangle with leader Matt Hirschman and 2nd place Les Hinkley..., followed
by a few restart attempts with leader Rowan Penyak and Jimmy Blewett
alongside,... well, you know the rest!
Jimmy Blewett grabbed the lead on a lap 148 restart and went on for the win in
the 150 lapper. Here, Jimmy runs toward crew members for congratulatory
hand shakes and high 5's.
Crowd reaction was definitely mixed... but as is always the case when
"Showtime" is near the front... there was definitely a "reaction!"
...making sure there'd be no "reaction" in the pits...
"Showtime." (Never has there been a more fitting name in all of
sport!)
Anthony Sessely ran a strong, smart race and brought the #16 home 2nd
Les Hinckley was near the top the entire race until a crash with leader Matt
Hirschman with only a handful of laps to go took both out of the top spots.
The smooth one... Matt managed his tires for the full 150 laps only to have it
all go away in the final laps after an incident with the #06 (above.)
Nothing to smile about in the pits of strong running Rowan Pennick, who had the
lead on the final restart on lap 148 of 150.... but who ended up finishing out
of the top 10.
Jimmy was grinnin'....
... and here's why.
Mike Iles brings the #711 in after a 2nd place finish in the Dirt Mod event
which was won by Stewart Freisen
Now that's one used up Hoosier!

SK/Wall Mods get the call to begin lining up
Matt Hirschman climbs from his Tour Mod and right into his SK/Wall Mod
Chas Okerson takes his place in line
Chas is ready to go
Roger Coss waits for the signal to roll out
There's Matt again, this time in the #50 Wall/Sk Mod.
Large field of SK/Mods in front of the large Turkey Derby crowd
Getting ready to go green....
...still gettin ready...
Once the field was lined up, the start was further delayed by an oil/coolant lay
down... requiring some speedy dry and a few more laps...
Once the green came out, the SK/Mods had a tough time keeping the green lights lit...
This time, a frontstretch accident....
...followed by another frontstretch accident...
With the track cleared, there goin' green the next lap!
...But the green is soon replaced by yellow once again... this time, a multicar
accident on the
backstretch.
Not sure which car made the impact, but check out the guardrail in the center of
the backstretch...
Track crew makes repairs to the backstretch guardrail... The green would
return and when it was all said and done, Jimmy Blewett would make it 2 for 2 on
the night!
Turkey Derby 2011 is a wrap.... And we'll be back for Turkey Derby 2012.
