Comments: Comment:  I'm told that this is Langhorne, but it's a place on the grounds that I am not familiar with.  If I've got this correct, this car might have become a Piscopo #39 and possibly the shell became the first Menschner/Neary #21.  Not sure about all of that, but hopefully someone out there that knows how to email will fill us in!

Joe, This is the car owned by Walt Donald.  Tas drove this car and liked how it handled. When Tas drove for Dave Piscopo (as a white #39) they wanted a second car to use on asphalt tracks, and did run it on dirt.  Dave Piscopo bought the car from Walt Donald and Tas convinced him to buy a Ford big block engine in.  I believe that Tas blew up two of them.

Dave then built a Chevy big block engine and ran the car with much success.  Ray Neary and myself bought the car and raced it for one season as the silver #21, just as we bought it from Dave.

In the 60's section of your site on page 23a and 49 there are pictures of our silver #21 as it was when we bought it from Dave Piscope, when it was the #39. This is the first engine I built, a 427 Chevy big block and of course we painted it silver and Tom Backes lettered it. This is around 1968 out of our Trenton, Fulton Street garage.

During the winter we dissembled the car and built a new frame and cage using the old rear and drive train, and we did use this same 36 Chevy body for all of the silver #21 racecars.

The cage is an easy way to spot this car in 39 form, it sits low, shows in the side window and the front leg joins the frame outside the body in front of the firewall. The trailer appears to be unsprung, looks like they bolted a 3/4 ton racing hub to the frame.

The photo was taken in 1964 - the last year Langhorne was a dirt track.
