Comment: Billy drove for Billy O for
at least 2 years (1972 and 1973...) and maybe even before that (?).
I've learned from you guys that this Norcia/Schron #81 was powered by a
small block with injectors. I am pretty sure that Billy O left the
ride at the end of the 1973 season (possibly to drive for Statewide) with
Stan Ploski starting the 1974 season behind the wheel of the Norcia #81,
driving the Mustang bodied #81, for just a few weeks, before leaving the
ride after a side over side flip down the backstretch at Flemington.
Other drivers I remember being behind the wheel of the Norcia coupe, (either the one pictured above, or one that look just like it) included Stan Ploski, Joe Hall, Paul Fitzcharles and Sammy Beavers. I think you guys said that one of the coupes had a Mulligan style front end - not sure if that was this car, or the one that Sammy drove a few years later. |
