Comments: Comment:  Here's an early shot of Frankie Schneider's original Grant King car.  It's an early photo because as you can see, the car still had the knock off wheels and the orange frame, which was later painted blue.

I remember the car when it was in that state – knock off hubs and gold wheels.  So cool that it was captured in that moment in time.  During that timeframe my brother was a protégé of Franks and we got to tag along.  As kids it was our job (my brother and I) to paint the wheels empire blue.

My brother Joe had the same shiny aluminum on his car at the time.  I seem to recall that he and Kirsch took a drill and a wire brush to burnish the aluminum to give it that gold swirl effect.  My brother’s car at the time had the same panels with just the plain chrome look.  Here's a link:

This picture from Leo Boyer is such a great photo.  I love the subtle look on the guy in the background checking it out.

I think the 1f in the background is my friend Stan Friedman.

01.14.13 3Wide I think so too...  I'm wondering if the #1F in the picture was later painted white with a gold #1 on it...  Nice looking car if I remember that had the same shape as this one.
