Comments: Comment from Mark:  The car was a '62 Chevy Nova.  I raced this car in 1975 at Delaware International Speedway (US 13) in Delmar, DE.   That is me, Mark Dennis, in the center and I was the driver and mechanic.

My two best friends that helped me build and race the car are Patrick Murphy on the left and Ben Dayton on the right.  I was only 19 at the time and as proud as we were of this car, the obvious design and setup flaws are glaring to me now.

We ran in the 6cyl Hobby or street stock class although we ran this same car as a modified at Tasley, VA once and took 3rd place.  Very difficult car to drive since it picked the left front tire off the ground coming out of the turns and would set it back down on the straights and throw the car.  We had a 250 cu.in block bored out to 4 inches which made for some very thin cylinder walls.  My machinist told me when he bored it that he would do so but would guarantee it past it getting started.  In fact it broke a connecting rod and threw the top of the piston through the front of the block catching the car on fire.   Charlie Cathell gave me a lecture because I got out of the car on the track but as I told him, with the flames coming through like they were I was more than glad to take my chances getting out !  Anyway that little 6 would run with most V-8's.

Had an Offy intake, reworked Holley, Mallory dual point distributer, solid lifter cam, home made headers and aluminum flywheel.  It was listed as the Uncle Franks car as sponsor as that was the local produce stand that donated a case of beer from time to time.  Much appreciation though goes to Charles "Bunky" Bell who owned the Vienna Sunoco station where I worked and allowed me to work on the car there since I was did not have a garage or shop of my own.

Drove the car to one win and numerous second and third place finishes.
