08.21.10 John Heffner Great shot of the Hollowed Reading Fairgrounds Pit area and famed Grandstand. Interesting to see a female in the picture as for years ladies were not permitted in the Pit area until after the race . There were signs posted at the stage entrances that said the same. Fabulous Shot & Memory!

08.25.10 Tom Sisler This is 1978 the last Daniel Boone race.  The other picture of the back straight is the same day.
02.17.12 Jim S. This is the first track my Dad took me too. Since I was a kid I had to sit in the Grandstand and couldn't stay in the pits with my Dad. I use to sit on the right side so I could see the scoring tower, the flagman, And the string of red, yellow, and green lights across the track. There was a vendor who would work the Grandstands selling steam hotdogs that I fell in love with. I miss those days! Thanks, Jim S.

My uncle used to bring me along when he used to use his  Jeep with my family's Boating Center advertisement as a push car. I had to wait at least until I was 16 or 17 I remember because I used to tell the track steward I was 18 when we entered the pit gate staging area.

At first I was never allowed out of the Jeep in the pits, but it was still great to be part of the action getting all of the cars to the starting line. All of the drivers many who knew us, would wave and show thanks. Then as the cars would begin the pace lap we would get them all started again and off the starting line. Just before the green flag we would dash to the inside of turn two, park and watch the race just between the track and the infield fence.

Whenever there was a red flag we of course had to run and get in the Jeep and drive onto the track again to assist at the accident scene. It was a fabulous time. My buddies would see me from the grandstand sidelines or from the infield and wonder how I was able to be in such a great spot. I felt so lucky and need to thank my uncle again for bringing me along.
