Page 5Here's a Few More Beauties from Scott Pacich
Andy Belmont #14, Billy Deskovich #265 and Craig McCaughey#301 & #4 *Note from Scott: The first one is the Kneisel car that Andy Belmont drove in 1984. I built this entire car from scratch, including the body and hood. There are parts from some kits, such as the front and rear axles, wheels and tires and the engine. I scratch built a "live" rear end and made the headers myself. I also did the lettering by hand.
The second one is the 265 small block coupe that Billy Deskovick drove in 1972. I used a frame from a 55 Chevy kit, and scratch built the roll cage, bumpers and rub rails. Axles, wheels and tires, engine and headers came from various kits. The body is actual vacuum formed over a mold from a sheet of plastic. Hand lettered.
The third one is a Craig McCaughey sedan from 1973 or 1974. Again, scratch built frame with other parts from various kits. This body is interesting, as it is actually from a 29 year old model kit...an original release of the AMT 35 Sedan Tobias kit. I got it from Scott MacFadden, who I think visits this site at times. Hand lettered.
All of these models were built for Andy Belmont.
The 4th model is the Matt McMann #4 Sedan. The frame rails are from the new Model King Rat Trap Vega, with a scratch built roll cage, bumpers and rub rails. Rear suspension is the standard leaf spring set-up, while the front suspension is the buggy spring style with home made split wishbones. Rear tires are from a sprint car kit, on wheels from a Tobias modified. Front wheels and tires are from the Rat Trap. Engine from a Tobias kit, headers from the Rat Trap. The body is a vacuum formed sedan I got from Jack Hedstrom. I cut the window and tire openings myself, as there were none to start with. The paint is Testor's purple (really) and I made the hood myself. I worked this one from pictures I found on your site. I think it's pretty close....
Note from 3-Wide: They're real beauties! I especially like the #265, but then again those who know me know that I'm partial to coupes with 3 digit #'s with a white roof... Also like the gold wheels. Speaking of that, the body of the purple McMann Sedan ended up being the blue #292 Sedan body that Al Michalchuk put on his brand new modified that he built as a back up car for his modified debut season in 1974. Al started the year behind the wheel of McMann's purple Gremlin, but was out of the ride after about 3 or 4 weeks at which time he drove the Sedan #292. Thanks again Scott!
