Model from Norman Gee
Comments from Norman: This is a 1/25 scale model of one of the race cars driven by Pete Frazee. It is the gold #68, a 1937 Ford Modified. Pete Frazee, for those who do not know of him, was one of New Jersey's greatest asphalt Modified drivers of the 1950s and 60s.
Pete was the all-time feature winner at Old Bridge Speedway with 41 wins. Pete also had 18 feature wins at Wall Stadium and was champion at both tracks. He also had 7 feature wins at Vineland Speedway.
I have also included several pictures of the #68 replica during construction. I don't have any information as to who took these pictures, but I am hoping that someone out there can post a comment with more information about the photos and the replica construction. I have never seen the #68 replica in person, although I have seen the original #68 in racing action at Wall Stadium when I was a kid.
My model was built entirely by viewing photos posted on "3 Wide's Picture Vault" and from additional photos seen on the internet. I may only be an amateur model builder, but I feel this is a good model representation of the replica #68 and the original #68.
The #68 will forever be remembered as a replica was built a few years ago (full size.) Below is a picture of it from the 2012 Old Bridge Speedway Reunion:
Below are a few photos provided by Norman Gee (photographer unknown) of the #68 being replica being built:

Great model car. Question, it almost looks as if the roll bars are made of wood. Wood or flat steel or metal? Frank Giordano Staten Island NY |

Frank: The roll bar is made of strip plastic from “Evergreen Scale Models,” Woodinville, WA. I had to guess at the width and thickness of the strips until I found the right one for my model. I had to buy several packages of different sizes until I found the right one. |

Great work Norman, thanks for the reply. The real car, were they made of wide steel pieces? |
11.28.17 | Norman Gee | Frank, In response to your question about the material used in the present #68 roll cage, you would have to contact the owner of the #68. His name is John Fitzgerald and you might be able to contact him through the “Garden State Vintage Sports Car Club” here in New Jersey. |
