01.09.10 Mike Kent Lowered, wide, and smooth rubber. Looks like it's ready for a paved version of Flemington
01.09.10 Dave Daniels This picture was taken at Budd Olsen Racing Supplies in Paulsboro, NJ, at the race shop I frequented quite a bit along with many others.  I can still hear Budd's voice saying, "kid, what do you need?"
01.10.10 Mike Kent Sorry, I know you hated that era Joe, but those cars looked cool albeit out of place.
01.10.10 3Wide I hear you Mike... Actually I never hated the cars, ... hated that they were now racing on what was formerly a clay surface!.... Truth is that I think these cars look cool and the Cos lettering job on this one makes it even cooler...  And if they had put something on the track to make them slide sideways through the corner, I might've bought a season pass for 1991!... That is if Speedway Management didn't chase all of us dirt eaters away...
01.10.10 Mike Kent That paint brush is a lost art for sure! Vinyl killed the paint can. Cos lettered my uncle's last S-1..the car that only raced ½ season @ wall and went fastest with gil hearne behind the wheel. only 1 picture of that car exists---I'll try to find it. I'm sure if cos thinks back he'll remember "visit the Bahamas" and " a little twisted" ---lettering phrases that were at home only on the S-1. I'm pretty sure he lettered the two pintos of unc's in the 80's section.
01.10.10 Pat Bradshaw Mike, I knew your Uncle, I have photo of Gil Hearne in the S-1 at Wall Stadium, I am pretty sure it was the one that had "Visit the Bahamas", If my memory serves me correctly I am thinking from about 1981. I can scan a copy for you if you want it.
Thanks - Pat Bradshaw
01.10.10 Mike Kent Go for it pat! The car I am talking about was a cavalier body which hit the track around 84-85-ish with signature blue and white paint, but has baby blue wheels. I remember seeing cos working with thin strips of masking take and a brush in my pop's garage---just under the windscreen was a pic of a drunk tazmanian devil captioned with " a little twisted". Circa 1981, the car was a pinto, but it would have "visit the Bahamas" on the side rear and sport gold wheels.
01.10.10 Cos (To Mike Kent)  MIKEY'S CARS WERE LETTERED BY DENNIS SMITH AND MYSELF.. DONT REMEMBER WHICH YEARS..
THANKS - COS
01.14.10 Mike Kent Cos, you are correct. Dennis lettered the pinto that is this weeks trivia question---I have the pass door of that car hanging up in my garage and there still remains the faint outline of the words " smith asphalt"---can't make out the last part; maybe designs. That car ran from 1982 to 1983. in 1984, you lettered mike's cavalier-bodied car-I should have a pic of that car available for 3-wides shortly.
