Comments: Note from Bob: My father took this shot from the stands at the 1969 All Star League race at the Nazareth National Speedway. I thought it was Sonny Hutchens in one of Junie's full bodied cars. Any help you, or one of the vault contributors could give me would be appreciated.

12/05/06 Greg C! I called the Donlavey Shop on Monday the 4th to get an answer for you. Junior "Junie" Called me back late this afternoon, he has been extremely busy lately with a large car manufacturer talking to him about a "Return" to the NASCAR ranks early next season. That is all, about that for now, on to your question.

Junie tells me NO that wasn't their car in the photo [I had to describe it to him he is not a computer type of guy you know] Junie said when they ran Nazareth or Naz National "We always took the smallest cars they had at the time" "We did run both tracks but maybe twice on the ½ mile and that's all!" As for the 1969 Nazareth National photo [All Star Race] Junie said "He never recollects running a Full bodied car on the big dirt track at Nazareth ever." He laughed and then said; "At his age the mind plays tricks on an individual but he never remembers running a car that was not better prepared for a race"

Junie then laughed about the "Spray Paint Numbers".

The phone call prompted some great conversation [as always with Junie] and brought back the Sonny memories. "Donlavey's Nazareth driver"
but once again he tells me NO that wasn't his car in the photo in
question.

I have No idea who is driving the car in the photo either. [All Star
Race] should narrow it down a little?

01/07/07 Joel Naprstek I recall an old Cavalcade of Racing magazine from the late 60's-early 70's era that had a picture of Don Rounds running an ex-Fred Lorenzen #28 GN car at the Lakeville, MA 1/2 mile dirt track. Maybe this is that car? I seem to recall it had a spray can number painted on it. I'll have to see if I can track that issue down.
04/01/08 Janice The 90 is Don Rounds.  I called him up today to verify it. There is another picture of this car on www.catamountstadium.com   website under his page . Joel hit on the head except it was #29.  There are also some great shots of the 101 that he drove at Lebanon Valley,Stafford, Cheshire Fairgrounds and many other tracks in the northeast.
04/08/08 raceartist Thanks Janice. GREAT history on that website! Joel
