Car #: #1B
Driver (s) : not sure  Solved!  (see comments below)
Location: Flemington
Date: 1970's

Comments: I know that Larry Bower's drove the neat looking little Burnett blue and white #1B, but not sure if this is an earlier effort from Larry or if its someone different.  The nose and hood look familiar... almost like somebody took an old coupe body off of something and went with a more aero Pinto!

12/30/06 Walter Onora Do not really remember this modifed, but the only driver with that number was Larry Bowers. Also remember Larry driving an old Fodor modified. I believe that was numbered 19. Also remember Larry driving an former King Chevrolet mount(sedan) back in the early 70's. Whatever happened to Larry Bowers? One of the little guys of the sport, who can be counted on week in and week out back then!!

Just another thought. It could be out of the A & B Garage out of Flemington. Howie Cronce drove for them back then.
12/30/06 Paul Madsen I think it is Larry Bowers. He drove a white pinto #1b when he won his only feature. I believe it was a triple 20's show.   Look at the picture of Larry Bowers, 70's page 55a, it looks like the same chassis, with a different body.   (click link below)

12/31/06 John McCaughey Happy New Year! The answer to this question is the car was owned by Larry Bowers, but since it was one of the 1st Burnett Cars built (maybe the 1st, I bet Howie can tell us), Howie Cronce is the driver pictured here. The car debuted toward the end of '74 and Howie drove it 1st to try it out. Later on this car had the 1st Mustang body from Cronce's car and was a blue & white 1B.

Good luck in the New Year!
01/21/07 Howie Cronce John McCaughey has it right.  It was first time out for Larry's new car. He built the body and me and my guys built the rolling chassis (Burnett).  Hope this solves some questions. I havn't heard where Larry is in a long time.
Thanks, Howie.
06/10/08 Jack Stanley Larry bowers still lives at the same homestead where the 1B's were housed, and every single day, 365 days a year, rain, snow or sun, you will find larry riding his Honda Goldwing.  Since he last raced, he has put over 300,000 miles on his motorcycles, and still rides every single day. The only thing left in his shop from his years of racing, is the BOWERS pit chalkboard he used at bigger races for pit stops before there were in-car radios.
