11/26/08 | John Larsen | This is the Nandor Hoffer # 10. I believe that it might have
been driven by Sandy Rochelle around this time. Hoffer owned the very first
car I actually "worked" on. Hoffer's house/shop was just a stones
through from Emmett's Sinclair in Somerset. Mike Grbac was scheduled to
drive Hoffer's blue # 7 pinto at Bridgeport and he brought me to Hoffer's
shop to put the quick change gears in. He gave me the gears and said "crawl
under there kid and put these gears on those splines there and remember the
big gear goes on top." From that moment on I knew that the big went on top
in a quick change (except at Syracuse or sometimes Bridgeport....lol). Nandor had 2 sons Nandor and Eugene. Nandor was quite a machinist back in the day. One of the Farleys also drove Hoffer's cars on occasion. |
11/30/08 | Walter Onora | I remember Larry Taylor also drove this modified a time or two, at Flemington, with limited success. |
