05.23.09 David Rogie #88 - If my memory serves me Walt Crarey (sp) used to drive a #88 at East Windsor.  I remember it being a yellow coupe but this could be a later car.
07.21.10 Mark Yaple The year is 1974, the track is East Windsor, the car on the outside is the 11-7 of George Ault, but the #88 is will still have to be a mystery.

The #88 is me, Doug Cranstoun, driving the former Al Whitehouse falcon modified. It was my first stock car. It was powered by a 332 cubic inch '58 Ford big block in the sportsman class at East Windsor. I loved that car!

03.23.13 3-Wide Thanks for the information Doug.  I remember the Al Whitehouse owned #90 Falcon that Bob McCollough and Lee McBride drove as a sportsman, and I remember the #90 Whitehouse owned Pinto modified that Bob McCollough also drove.  Was this that little sportsman I referred to above, or was there a different Falcon bodied Whitehouse car.  Thanks.

Sorry 'bout that. I called it a modified. I believe this is the same car pictured on page 57 of the '70's. You were right...... it's the sportsman that was driven Bob McCollough. Al sold it to me and I kept the heritage goin' by puttin' a Ford in it.

That #88 falcon is my dad, Doug Cranstoun. This was his first car and I think one of his first years. He later bought the #24 Ken Brenn coupe and drove it under #88 again in the late 70's. My brother, J.D. will be driving the C14 in Crate class this year at New Egypt in his first season owning/driving. My dad is the builder/mechanic and we're all real excited to be back in it. But, we always look back to the days when the fields were full of cars like this at EWS and Flemington and wish things were a bit more like they used to be.
