racers take their final laps. It was a really difficult day to be at Flemington.
...Difficult to be at Flemington Speedway, and to not be happy, and to
not be excited. While listening to the sound of engines, I found that if I looked at only the grass at my feet, I could trick myself into feeling that everything was ok. (You know, being at Flemington, hearing cars on the track...how quickly my mind was ready to take me back to how things used to be...) The reality was waiting all too soon as I let my eyes drift up to reveal the reality that is the end of Flemington Speedway. |
