| Provider's comments: | Some of my old tickets from Indy. I went every year straight from 1971 until around 1986. I stopped going because of their "sudden new rain out" policy that they put in effect back in the 80's. The policy had always been that if it rained out on Sunday, then they tried running it on Monday, or Tuesday... until they were able to get the race in. Then one year it rained on Sunday so they made the surprise announcement that the race would not be run until the following Saturday because the weather looked bad all week! (I think that this was also the first year the race was to be televised live on TV which I am sure was the reason for the sudden change in policy.) We had other committments so our tickets went to waste - Since it seems like they valued their TV fans more than those that made the journey to be there in person each year, My father and I decided to become TV fans only too. |
