Comments: Comment:  Although maybe not thought of at the time because his the fellow on the right hand blocks the view of the flipping racecar, over time, this photo tells the story of the brave rescue workers that manned their positions each Saturday night at Flemington Speedway.  And those positions located between turns one and two were where the action was for sure...  Flemington, (still a decade away from having the wooden boards replaced with an outer steel guardrail) was still known as "Flippington" as it was not uncommon to see 6 or 7 flips on any given Saturday night.  ... and I think it was safe to say that a majority of those flips seemed to happen between turns one and two.

I'm not sure who the fellow is that has already begun running to the scene while long before the car has stopped flipping and based on his body position, I'm guessing that he's got a fire extinguisher in his right hand.  (Photo is long before rescue/fire personnel wore any type of protective gear...)

This photo gives us all an opportunity to thank those folks that volunteered to be on the rescue squad, who in times of trouble could be counted on to quickly arrive and offer their assistance in helping to put out a fire, or helping a driver safely get out of their crashed racecar.

Were you a member of the rescue squad?  Do you know any of the folks that were?

That’s long time track fireman John Garboski leaping the wall.  John was stationed there where many of the photographers waited for the moment of the night.  He made many a highlight photo over the years at Flemington.

I wonder if this is Eddie Pasko in the #37J

Clearly if the 3W Detectives were able to figure that was Johnny Leach winning his heat by a mile in the #130 they can put their heads together and solve this mystery.
