Comments: Comment from Hank:  Enclosed is a letter from Ace Lane Sr, from I think 1972?  It was written to me just a few months before his passing.  I had written him regarding purchasing some Bob Pickell photos.

Some of the photos I bought thru this letter are now in the Vault here.    Hank Winecker

01.31.15 3Wide Thanks Hank.

Every once in a while you have to ask yourself, would our memories be the same without the photos that exist because of people like Ace Lane Sr., Ace Lane Jr?

Sure, we'd remember the excitement of being at the track... rooting for our favorites... but would our memories of the cars, and the fairgrounds be as clear as they are if there were no photographs to keep our memories from straying too far?

The specific shape of a car.. the way the number was written... the way a driver held the wheel...  All of these things are as clear as if we just saw them last Saturday night because of the work of the photographers.

What would our memories look without their pictures?

They can never get enough credit as far as I'm concerned for what they did to make sure that there was a visual history to this sport.
