Comments: | I'm sure a lot of us remember those great days at Trenton
Speedway, long after the race, wandering around the pits.... You never knew who
you'd run into. Here's a scene that brings us all back to a time when big time stock
car racing didn't always act like it was so big time. Richard Petty brought the sport of Stock Car Racing through the 60's and 70's. Dale Sr took it though the 80's and 90's.... Seems to me the Nascar handlers are taking it where they want to, and I'm about ready to get off at the next stop... So be it, but we can all remember a more innocent time when if you were patient... and hung around well after the checkered flag had fallen, you just might get to meet The King. |

03/19/04 | Dale Stewart | My Dad, Dale Stewart Sr. took these pictures as we visited the speedway each time the NASCAR boys would show up. That little boy looking for an autograph is none other than me (Dale Jr). I still have the autograph book and many more slides from that race and others. I have some good ones from being on vacation and stopping at the Petty race shop to take a look around. During those times you could just go out in the garage and watch the guys ready the cars for battle. Thanks for posting and I'm proud to be a fan of the King of Nascar. 23/04 |
07/29/06 | Rich Reinhart | I think they should give a copy of this photo to every 18 year old kid who
is picked in whatever driver development program to pilot one of NASCARS top rides just to
remind him of what this deal is really about. Here is the greatest of all time, carrying his own fire suit and trademark black cowboy boots stopping to give a young fan an autograph. These new guys should be kissing The King and Dale Sr`s butt every chance they get for what they have today. I think it`s lost on them and it`s a disgrace, and it`s one of the reasons my TV is tuned to something else other than NASCAR on Sundays.. Great photo Dale... |
