Comments: After using this photo as our trivia question, we learned that the picture was taken in the early 60's.  Some notables include the narrowness of the track surface, the absence of bleachers in the 3rd turn and the buiding in progress of the store across the street.  Ed Farley told Vault Visitor Clint Bush that he was involved in running the gas lines during the time of constuction which puts this photo in the 1962 or 63 era.

04/11/04 Kevin Mc There were trees on Rte 31 at one time?   Amazing...
05/06/06 Mr. Dave This photo of Flemington was taken during the annual Flemington Fair Week. It was taken during the early 60's and was used around 1963 on a promotional postcard that was also sold at the track. You can still see the trees lined up along the outside of the backstretch fence. If I'm not mistaken (my memory isn't quite what it used to be), there is the water truck in the 2nd turn prepping the track for a midget show later in the afternoon. Also note that the bleachers go only as far as the 1st turn at this time. In the upper left hand corner of the card is the Hunterdon Medical Center.
