Comments: Comment from Mike:  This is very disturbing since everything is still there except the race cars.  Loved this place almost as much as Reading. This photo was taken July of 2004 by Mike Feltenberger.

08/13/05 Ted This is so sad. Penn National was a great track and it is a shame it has fallen into this state. Would love to see racing return, but I don't think it is going to happen. I understand the place is going to be torn down to make room for a slot parlor once the casino gambling gets up and running. A sad end to a great race track.
08/14/05 Fred Voorhees This image just breaks my heart!  My wife and I celebrated New Years eve at the hotel just out from the track along Rt.81 a handful of years ago and we drove down to take a look at the track and it didn't look this bad.

Penn National was tough to get to on Sunday nights as it was a good two hour drive for me and made it tough to get to work on Monday AM's. But, we got out there maybe three or four times a year and totally enjoyed the place. The flat , paper-clip track layout offered a different style of racing than many other tracks. Great racing and a great announcer in Warren Ruffner. One of my all time favorite tracks.
09/09/05 Jeff Scholl I remember the first race there, my dad followed Kenny Brightbills hauler out I-78 going 80 miles an hour, I believe Jimmy Kepply was the winner and Kenny was sparking it off the outside concrete, man that place was cool!
01/16/07 Dave Kauffman On the way to Chambersburg, PA from Reading, PA. My wife and I stopped to look at Penn National Speedway.

It's gone!!! No hint of it left behind. If I had not spent many years at the Track I might not have recognized the location.

Truly a sad day, as long a Track was there there was a shred of hope for a future.

Sorry to Bother You but I didn't see this reported anywhere else on your
site.
