Comments: We used this for our trivia question on 10/1/05 and many of you weighed in with the particulars surrounding this photo.  The best we can tell is that Craig was disputing a call made by the officials.

Long before the days of radios, the only way to get your point across was to stop your car in front of Harry Dee's stand and hope Harry would jump down and listen to your concern...  If that didn't work, the driver would sometimes then get out of his car..  and as you can imagine, with a full grandstand watching, the drama got pretty high!.  (We're not real sure who the car is on the inside, but some of the possibilites that you guys provided are the #24 of Newt Hartman, the #9c of Howie Cronce....)

Emotions run high at the track... and with as much on the line, its easy to see why.   Whether it was a dispute about a starting position on a restart... or about being blamed for a wreck that was not your fault, sometimes, a driver felt he had to be heard!

Craig was passionate about his racing... and about racing in general.   In addition to wheeling the #301's and the McMann #4, some will also remember that it was Craig that stepped up to help address the racing surface issues on the 5/8ths mile clay, and can remember seeing him operating the heavy equipment on many occassions.

02/20/07 George Pavlisko The chant was 'HARRY DID IT" every time something went wrong. Harry had a service station on New Market N.J. and his Brother Billy Dee had a lounge "The Golden Putter" which my band played at a few times. Harry was a good friend of the family.

Take Care
