02/03/07 3Wide I'm pretty sure its Stan Ploski in the #707, and I would think that it was Mike Grbac in the #K46.

Like Hank says... "A typical night at Flemington."

A place we thought would always be there.  Like your hometown's mainstreet...   like your favorite swimming hole....  A place that would always be there to help us find our point of reference if we ever became lost.  Our reward for a week's worth of hard work.... for every week... forever and ever.
02/04/07 JOE BOKROS COULD BE TAS IN THE K46.
02/04/07 3-Wide This is a kind of a mystery...  According to the article article about Tas retiring ( Tas Retires ), he retired at the end of the 1972 season.  Hank (the photographer) thinks this photo was taken in 1973 and thinks that it is Bob Pickell behind the wheel.  When I look at the driver, I'm thinking it looks like Mike Grbac's helmet in the #K46.  The other thing that I'm not sure about is if it is 1973, who was behind the wheel of the Big Donkey?  Wasn't Stan driving the Brenn #24 by then?

I'll let you guys figure it out!
02/04/07 Hank Winecker Above all, I am a lifetime Bob Pickell fan and the only reason I took this photo, is because Pickell was driving the #K46.  Bob is my lifetime hero..... he drove the #K46 for many weeks.
Keep up the excellent work !
Hank Winecker
02/04/07 3-Wide Well, we know that Grbac and Tas both drove the Valiant #K46 and I'm guessing that they drove it after Bob Pickell....Hank provided that the photo is from 1971, so then I guess it would have to be Stan in the #707...  Any other theories out there?
(Thanks for keeping us on track in here Hank!)
02/04/07 Hank Winecker I think Pickell switched to this k46 ride, after he parted with Lou Inzeo's # 80 Hank Winecker
p.s. I have the more photos of Bob Pickell than anyone on this planet!
02/04/07 3-Wide I hate to say it, but I am terrible with years... The only way I remember years is by referencing what car Al Michalchuk was driving!  Seriously...  If I see a car, and remember Al racing against it, then I will know what year it is from...   Unfortunatly, that cockamamie system won't help out here as Al didn't run modifieds until 1974...  I kinda thought that the Inzeo #80 Sedan was closer to 1975 but I'm sure you number crunchers will figure it all out...  Brian Loutrel? Rick Shive? John McCaughey?....  Help guys!
02/04/07 Rich Reinhart Wasn't Nokie driving the Inzeo 80 in 1975? or was that earlier?
02/04/07 Rich Wolsky I know at the beginning of the season that Ploski was in the Brenn 24 Beavers was in the 707.... cause they were advertising the opening of Flemington season in AARN with pictures of them.  By the way my name is Rich Wolsky and I'm writing you from Maui HI.
02/04/06 3-Wide Maui 'eh...  Don't you miss February in NJ?  (I don't think its expected to get out of the teens today...)  Just want to check, are you pretty sure that the pictures you saw in AARN were promoting the 1971 season?
02/04/07 Bob Becker Joe, that is the 707 Deasey built for the '72 season, check the hood. Sammy Beavers first drove it, the I think Jimmy Boyd replaced him later in the season. The photo is definitely from '72 or later, Stan was in the Brenn car by then.
02/04/06 3-Wide ...now we're getting somewhere.... so maybe it's Pickell in the #K46 and Beavers in the #707???  ...and maybe its not from 1971, or '73, but from 1972 instead...  You guys are good.
02/07/07 Rich Wolsky Maybe Tasnady was in the K46 by now ... all I know is we were witnessin'
something special and didn't even tag up to it til now !!!
02/25/07 Jack Kromer I just found a picture of the K46 from 1973 at Nazareth with Phil Meisner's name on the roof. I don't remember him driving that car and was surprised when I saw his name on the back of the photo.

That does look like Grbac's helmet in the K46 Flemington shot.
02/27/07 Hank Winecker The FINAL answer to the #K-46 photo trivia is....
Photo taken in 1972 and is certainly Pickell driving.  The only remaining question is.....who is in the 707 in august 1972 ?
02/28/07 Franny Lutz Did Bobby Braxton drive the 707 for a short period of time?  I think he may have mentioned it while he was driving my car at grandview.
