Comments: Comment from Jon: Tony Battle bought this coupe from Jack Hart season end in 67.   It was Bobby Allison's #312 originally.  I had the heart hanging in Grandma's garage til she died.  We raced this car at Wall 68-69 as the #99 with an alky injected s.b.  Dads most hi-tech car!

The car was sold it to Tommy Michel, who wrecked severely in it in 70-71?  It was probably the last square tube rollcage car to race in N.J.

05/25/07 3-Wide If the info from Jon is correct, then this might be the car that Tom Michel rolled down the entire backstretch at East Windsor as a yellow #60.
05/25/97 Russ Dodge I have attached a photo of Bobby Allison's 312 the night he sold it to Jack Hart at Wall Stadium. Bobby was going back to Florida so Jack, approached him about selling the car. Bobby said since it was his last race up North for the season, he would ask his wife Judy, about selling it.
The end result was Bobby sold it to Jack, for $800. complete, less the 3 - two's and manifold.  (See below)

As you can see it is a five window 36 Chevrolet coupe. So someone had to do a lot of work on the cage and change the body to look like the car pictured above.

Just offering this for thoughts:

I believe this is a Charles Taylor photo, but not sure. Taken at Wall Stadium. The exact date could be determined if anyone has Wall records from early 60's. Allison won I believe and it could have been last race there for the season?
Always a puzzle! Thanks, Russ
06/11/07 Jon Russ, you're right.  When we got that Hart coupe it was pretty rough.   Tony turned it into an offset steer car and rebuilt the whole cage.  We looked at 2 bodies for it.  One was a 62 Falcon behind Conti Causeway Ford in Manahawkin, but he decided to stay with a coupe and we dragged it out from behind Ronnie Kohler's shop.  It was already gutted and seam welded, we just had to finish it up.  The bottom 6 inches or so were rotted off where it sunk in the mud.  I was 10 years old and learned to weld that year!! (check out the lower color photo above which was taken looking down into the cockpit)
