"Racing Through
The Years"
The Cars of Ralph
"Camel" Banghart
There were many
things that drew us to the sport of short track stock car racing.... The
excitement.. the courage.... and for many of us, it was that unlike big time
team sports of the day, the participants of short track racing were those
individuals who had an idea... who had the fabrication skills.... a few more
ideas... and maybe even a few buddies to help them along the way.... to earn
the opportunity to be center stage on race night... Putting all of
their ideas to the test, along with showing their courage and determination,
every corner, every lap.
For some, the goal was to win the championship.... To some, it was to
win the feature event... To many, it was to qualify to make it to the
feature....
To me, and I'm sure to many reading this, we admired them all...
Whether the night ended with checkered flag in hand...., or with a beat and
battered racecar that we wondered if we'd ever see it again.
It was those individuals, all of them... who were the show... and the reason
we had to go back week after week.
