Comments: Rags Carter was a big winner in the 60's and 70's and this picture taken in 1965 at the Allentown, PA Fairgrounds was provided from Vault contributor John Fahey.  I understand that Rag's grandson Tim Carter has been turning a lot of heads as he follows the family tradition....

03/27/03 Todd L Yes and Tim even has a pictorial tribute to his Grandfather Rags on the rear of his racecar  (I believe that Tim was in AARN with the tribute)

11/25/05 Barry Pursell Yes indeed it was a big block ford.  The car was out of the Harold Cope stables in Easton PA.  He was my idol when I was a kid.
08/24/06 PM Yes, it was an Interceptor style engine. 427 Today they call them "FE"s, but haven't a clue why!

10.27.13 PRR Ford corporation introduced several brand-related engine series in the 1950s.  MEL is Mercury/Edsel/Lincoln, 4.9" bore spacing 383, 410, 430, 462 MEL.  FE is Ford/Edsel, 4.63" bore spacing.  332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428 FE

FT is the same FE design aimed at Ford Truck 330, 361, 391 FT
